Senior Living Dining Amenities

Dining at The Converse Home supports physical health while creating moments of joy and belonging—one meal at a time.

Dining at The Converse Home

At The Converse Home, dining is more than a daily routine—it’s a chance to nourish the body, spark conversation, and feel at home. Our culinary team prepares three delicious, well-balanced meals each day, with menus that reflect seasonal ingredients, resident preferences, and dietary needs.

Meals are served in a warm, communal dining room that encourages connection and routine. Snacks are always available, and accommodations are made for a range of dietary restrictions and personal tastes.

What Dining Amenities Are Offered in Assisted Living?

Mealtime is an important part of the day at Converse Home. Our cooks prepare three delicious and nutritious meals daily, which are served banquet-style in our beautiful dining room. Breakfast is cooked to order and there is a choice of entrees at our noon and evening meals.

Our meal service is designed to foster social connection and encourage socializing in an open and inviting environment. Social connections are extremely important to those living in assisted living; our dining room is designed for individuals to form friendships and share a sense of belonging.

We also entertain live music during select mealtimes and take pride in celebrating Holidays throughout the year with vibrant decorations, festive tableware, and special menu items.

All meals are reviewed and approved by a licensed dietician to ensure they follow a well-balanced diet. Each meal is prepared by an experienced cook who meets the dietary needs of every individual resident.

Each resident begins the noon and evening meal with a fresh garden salad with their choice of dressing. Lunch and Evening entrees include a pescatarian or vegetarian option and fresh fruit is provided at every meal.

Our dining staff also focus on fluid intake. We offer a variety of beverages at each meal, and each week our cooks prepare a home-made soup as a healthy and appealing way to increase hydration.

All Converse Home cooks and waitstaff are trained and certified in ServSafe Food Handling. ServSafe is a nationally accredited food handling training course that ensures high-quality safety. All staff are re-certified every 3 years. Waitstaff are trained continuously on food handling practices, infection control, and resident care.

We perform environmentally sustainable practices including using locally made products, composting all food waste, and reducing the use of plastics and non-reusable items.

Our cooks are proud to go above and beyond to create a meal that requires special attention due to food allergies or textured modifications.

The kitchen can accommodate any of the major 9 allergies including wheat and dairy, textured diets such as pre-cut food and puree, vegetarian and pescetarian lifestyles, and additional requests that keep our Residents safe and able to eat as independently as possible.

Dining at the Converse Home is in constant change to meet the needs and requests of our Residents.

The Director of Dining hosts a quarterly “Food Forum”. During the Food Forum, the director informs the Residents of any developments in the department and holds an open meeting where all Residents can ask questions, voice concerns, suggest improvements, share compliments and appreciation, and let their voice be heard. We strive to implement requests and maintain transparent communication.

The Converse Home is an active member of the Senior Dining Association. The SDA is “The only association providing resources, education and networking for the senior living hospitality industry.” Their mission is to “educate senior living hospitality professions to enhance the dining experience for their residents and guests daily.
